What’s your favourite place on the Northern Beaches?
Manly. It has so much to offer – beach, cafes, restaurants and it’s overall just a beautiful place.

Is there something about you that would surprise people?
I always wanted to be an accountant but fell into hospitality and haven’t looked back

What’s something everyone should do at least once?
Take a leap of faith

How long have you been operating?
I worked down the road at 4 Olives for 11 years and I was telling a customer I wanted to open my own operation one day. That customer ended up being James Howe (3 Beans founder). He helped me get started and now I’ve been operating 3 Beans Manly for 10 years.

Best business experience?
Making and forming lifelong friendships with staff and customers

If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing?
After hospitality, I’ll probably end up at Bunnings – it’s heaven!

Best part of your job or most enjoyable part of your job?
People. The Manly community is really special. I know my customers and have great relationships
with them all.

Most stressful part of your job?
Until COVID I was feeling as though my 100% was not enough

Weirdest thing that has ever happened at work?
Having a chef leave before opening the business, then meeting Lincoln Brazier (our chef) the same day. He had no resume or references. I took a leap of faith and he has been a godsend.

What’s the best part of working on the Northern Beaches?
Besides living and working in one of the best parts of Sydney, it’s the sense of community that the Northern Beaches has.

My wife disagrees but I’d say my charm

Nothing given is as valuable as something earned

What’s the best thing that’s happened to you this week?
Having a bit of extra time off to spend with my kids

Failure. Feeling you’re doing your best but it’s not enough

My wife and my 4 boys

What’s your idea of absolute happiness?
Having a well-balanced life of work versus time with family and friends

What travel experiences is on your bucket list?
Fishing hot spots – Steep Point W.A., Seventeen Seventy QLD & Ascension Island

How do you switch off?
Fishing.

What’s your guilty pleasure?
I love old muscle cars

My Dad.

I’m stubborn so I’d say a Rhino
