What’s your favourite place on the Northern Beaches?
Huge fan of Warriewood Headland on a still, sunny, winter, midweek day

Is there something about you that would surprise people?
I have an IMDB page. It’s super lame. Just checked it and I dropped 85,000 places, just this week.

What’s something everyone should do at least once?
Spend an afternoon with someone who is passionate about making / growing something, listening to where they came from and try what it is they make. You’ll never look at that product in the same way again.

It’s Sunday afternoon, where do we find you?
Has changed a lot over the years, but with a 7 and 5yo now, this time of year (on a good day) at the beach with them and Sheree relaxing. Maybe with a few friends and when it all comes together, someone has organised a little esky with a couple of beers and a casual early dinner you can eat with your hands.

How did 4 Pines Brewing Co happen?  How long have you been operating?
It’s 2006 father and son, post surf, eating a pie, father leans across and says “where do we get a decent beer?”. Brewpub in Manly began in 2008

Best business experience?
Countless. But day 1 of seeing the first customer ever drink a 4 Pines beer was pretty special.

If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing?
Couldn’t imagine anything else… phew… that was lucky.

Best part of your job or most enjoyable part of your job?
Working with great people

Weirdest thing that has ever happened at work?
Space Engineer walks into the bar at Manly and says “how would you like to put your beer in space”. We’ve been working on it for 9 years now! Getting there…

What is the best advice you’ve received?
You won’t know everything that is going on in your business, once you hit a certain scale. So, get comfortable in it.

What’s the best thing that’s happened to you this week?
It’s only Wednesday, don’t want to close out my options so soon

Decisiveness

Unsure … there are a whole bunch of things … but some are less than others … depending upon the context … yet I’m still not sure …

Yep

What’s your most treasured possession?
I’m not that material

What’s your idea of absolute happiness?
A happy day is, not having to think too much and laughing heaps. For life, perhaps putting that on repeat.

Which two famous people would you choose to be stuck in a lift with?
Kurt Russel and William Baldwin (Backdraft) to get out ASAP. I’ve been stuck in a lift for half a day before, it’s the worst. So hot. I think I came out just in my jocks.

What travel experiences are on your bucket list?
Heliskiing in Alaska

How do you switch off?
Surf

What’s your guilty pleasure?
All you can eat sushi

Who’s your personal hero?
I realised when thinking about this, I’ve taken inspiration for many people, so one doesn’t stick out.

If you were an animal, what would you be?
4 Pines has adopted the wolf as it’s spirit animal. Unsure why. So I guess I’m a wolf.

How would you like to be remembered?
As someone who inspired a little and made life a bit more fun

If Cinderella’s shoe fit perfectly, why did it fall off in the first place?
To this day I still have no idea.
